Chrysotile Institute

Print version

It is with great pleasure that the Chrysotile Institute makes available to the public the presentations given at the International Conference on Chrysotile, held in Montreal on May 23 and 24, 2006. During this conference, scientists and renowned experts from Asia, Europe and the Americas presented data from recent studies on Chrysotile. Government representatives from Canada and Quebec also restated Canada’s and Quebec’s position in favour of a controlled, safe and responsible use of this fibre.

You will find in this section, biographical notes on the speakers, summaries of their lectures and presentations available for downloading in pdf format, and also video presentations.

We fell that the Montreal Conference achieved a major milestone for the International outreach of important topics such as the biopersistence of Chrysotile compared to other fibres, the clear difference between fibres, and the important variations between the levels of risk of Chrysotile fibre compared with the amphibole varieties and the replacement fibres. We hope that this new data can be distributed as widely as possible to chrysotile users around the world. Do not hesitate to circulate this material.
